We first noted that the glass used is tempered glass, not regular glass. Tempered glass uses a special heating process that requires the glass to be heat treated in two steps rather than one. The final glass product is more durable, stronger, and can last up to five times longer than traditional glass. Tempered glass is also a material that is easier to work with when remodeling bathroom and installing the sink yourself. Another high end element that was evident in the design is the thickness glass. Rather than using a 21mm or less thickness, as we often see when reviewing products, glass specialists advised Kraus to use a 19mm glass material. This not only adds a more “beefy” and high end look to the design, it provides many more years of use, and durability to the design as well.
